Please welcome Anita Claire Tait, born 27 August at 12.09PM. Weighing in at a respectable 8 lbs 13 oz., and very cute as you can see!
Labour started Saturday morning at 7.30AM - for the health of baby and mommy she was delivered via c-section the next day. This is the short version of this story. We have just been discharged and are having some dinner with the out-laws. Tomorrow we will begin to deluge this site with pictures of the sprog. Hasta La Vista, Baby!

Went down to High River for our weekly checkup.
We "passed" the checkup with flying colors. Dr. Nancy Vyse, our physician, has let us know that if I don't deliver on or before the due date, she will induce on September 5th. This means the latest Possum will arrive will be September 7th. Hurrah! We are both eager to meet the little guy/girl in person.
Below are pics of Matthew, Barbara and Dr. Vyse from today’s visit.

Two weeks into my maternity leave and I am officially in to what is referred to as “nesting mode”. Cleaning cupboards and floors, going through papers that I have not glanced at in years, and in general throwing out a whole lot of junk. I am unwavering, even if this can be difficult at times as I now weigh approx 170 lbs and it is not as easy to get up and down as it used to be. If I were a hamster I would be shredding newspapers right now.
Last week’s doctor appointment went well. There was some concern about my sugar levels but I have been using a blood sugar tester and all the numbers are fine. Possum currently weights (very approximate) 7 lbs, length 21 inches, and the heart rate was 160 BPM. The baby is head down - take off position.
For the past few weeks I have been feeling the baby move more intensely. I suspect that has to do with the fact that Possum is almost as big as his/her home is and there is less room to move. It is pretty amazing watching my stomach move around on its own.
I have not been sleeping well for the past month or more, but the last two nights have been different. It is not that I am any more uncomfortable, it’s just that I can’t sleep. In fact, I have not slept at all tonight and it is almost 5:00 AM. I decided tonight, rather than tossing and turning, to get up and do something productive - in hopes that I would get tired and go to sleep. No luck yet.
I am going to make some tea now and see if I can get some shut eye.
Cheers, Barb
